Wir haben Kostolany viel zu verdanken! In unseren Herzen und durch seine Nachkommen wird er uns aber stets weiter begleiten.

Stallion of the year
|Neumünster (Julia Martin) - The Hämelschenburger Trakehner stallion Kostolany has been proclaimed Trakehner Stallion of the Year 2009 and he will be honoured for his achievements in the breeding world at the 2009 Trakehner Stallion Licensing October 22 - 25, 2009, in Neumunster, Germany.
Bred by Otto Langels and owned by Beate Langels of Gestüt Hämelschenburg in Emmerthal, Germany, Kostolany is by Enrico Caruso out of Kapstadt (by Falke x Ibikus x Impuls). The black stallion was born in 1984 and became the licensing champion in 1987. The Trakehner verband praises the Kostolany offspring for their character, rideability and versatility in show jumping and dressage.
Kostolany sired nine licensed sons, including Licensing champion Gribaldi which has been successful at international Grand Prix level under Edward Gal. Gribaldi sired Anky van Grunsven's second Grand Prix horse Painted Black and Tosca Visser's Totilas, the current European Dressage Champion and world record holder.
Kostolany also produced reserve licensing champions Hofrat and Hoftänzer. His son, premium stallion Tolstoi, produced licensing champions Farinelli and Freudenfest on his part. Premium stallion Silvermoon sired World Equestrian Games silver and bronze medallist Blue Hors Matine. The 2008 Trakehner riding horse champion Elfado competed at the Bundeschampionate and Grand Prix winner Showmaster.
"The past two to three years Kostolany's blood became the centre of attention again amongst breeders and riders," said Trakehner breeding director Lars Gehrmann. "It was for us a reason to decorate this important source for performance with the Trakehner Stallion of the Year title."

Winter in Hämelschenburg
|At the Dec 13th-14 Orlando Winter Classic, 3yr old Trakehner mare Oksana SR by Summertime out of Onia by EH Consul - Lucado, bred by Nancy and Todd Shaw, Seneca Ridge, Eustis, Florida, managed to not only all four classes
she was entered in, but also became Grand Champion of the show.
Oksana SR was started less than four months ago by Amber Walker, who rode her in four training level classes at the two-day show where the pair scored 70.8 %, 62.8 % and 65.652% at Training Level tests 1 and 3. They added the show high score of 74.783% to their record of four first places at their first outing. Oksana SR had been shown in-hand this past summer at three breed shows and ended up number seven in the nation, all-breeds, for the 2008 competition year. We think this is an excellent example of a young Trakehner horse that made a wonderful transition from breed shows to under saddle performance.
Congratulations Seneca Ridge and we look forward to hearing more!

|Aachen 25./26. August 2006 - it was a final treat to see the Danish mare Blue Hors Matiné by Silvermoon (by Kostolany)win a second medal: the silver in the Freestyle!! WHAT a competition for this 9 year old "green" FEI horse. With horses of her quality, and that of Elvis VA on her heels, the next years in the dressage world will become interesting again!|
|Aachen 23. August 2006 - The Team competition in dressage is over, and while Germany won a very secure Gold, followed by the Netherlands and the US, it was one gray mare that sort of stole the show: "Blue Hors Matiné", 9 year old by the Trakehner Kostolany-son Silvermoon, and her rider Andreas Heldstrand charmed the judges and audiences alike. While the mare is still somewhat unstable and her rotating tail shows offs some of the tension that is in her, there is no deying the fact that she is the future of dressage at this point. No other horse her age comes close.|

Polansky was the 2002 KWPN/KNHS Stallion Competition Winner under Gerdine Maree and won two KWPN Stallion Competition qualifiers in 2003. In 2004, Polansky produced his first licensed offspring, Upper Class. "He's a very nice, big, impressive horse, which suits me well," Arjen Teeuwissen told Eurodressage. "He has three very nice basic gaits and shows much potential for collection. His strong sides are definitely his beauty, his expression and ability to collect." I'll send some pictures once she has time to "unfold".'|
|Summertime passed an excellent 70 day test in 2002, finishing 3rd overall in dressage (125.2 points) and 10th in show jumping (99.3 points) and had a successful show season as a young stallion in dressage, show jumper and suitability classes for riding horses before a tragic accident put a halt on his progress. Nevertheless, breed director Lars Gehrmann judged him as "one of the most brilliant younger champion foal producers in the recent history of the breed", whose foals not only stood out with their consistency and high quality, but who were also high in demand on the market. His first offspring are now under saddle and reflect the high hopes placed in this young stallion.|
